Over the years A’sha has taken part in Notting Hill carnival mass by wearing costume and performing at the judges point. Last year she was given the amazing opportunity to perform a poem she had written about the Windrush generation, of which her great grandmother is a member of, at the carnival opening ceremony.
A’sha has grown up in the North Kensington area and has been involved in representing her community in many different events, including performing dance and singing at the Royal Opera House to raise money for survivors of Grenfell Tower.
When A’sha was asked to be the first child ambassador she jumped at the chance to share her love for carnival and the Notting Hill community with other children who might like to hear a child's perspective of playing mass at carnival and being involved in all the events and preparation that take place leading up to the main event.
A’sha is very passionate about her community and feels carnival is a special day when she gets to share the amazing place she lives with the world. She loves welcoming millions of people onto the streets she loves!
NHC is me because I am the future of Notting Hill.
