Batala Mundo

THEME: Having fun!

Batala World is an international group of Samba-Reggae bands. The music originates in Salvador, Brazil and is based on samba rhythms.

We were very excited to have formed Batala London in 2010 and London became the 6th UK band after Batala Portsmouth, Batala Mersey (formerly Liverpool), Batala Lancaster, Batala Bangor and Batala Barmouth. There are now 7 with Batala Bristol forming. We think the bands are ideal for anything happening in London or nationwide or any event. The members are drawn from a huge variety of backgrounds, religions and races and we like to consider ourselves to be truly multicultural. The bands perform at a wide variety of gigs from supporting pop group The Sugababes at the Royal Variety performance in 2007 where members joined them on stage, launching a new range of sports car (Formula 1), TV shows (ITV 1 World Cup 2014 Brazil coverage opening match Brazil v Croatia), the London 2012 Olympic torch events, music festivals, and major sporting events at venues such as Wembley (the first match in 2007, England v Brazil, the Community Shield and other sports events), the Women's F.A.

Cup Final, Chelsea FC and Twickenham for rugby matches, London Pride, BBC1 Rio Olympics opening Ceremony broadcast 2016. Batala World's biggest event in Britain is the Notting Hill Carnival with nearly 200 drummers. There are bands in the Americas and continental Europe and players come to London to play at NHC from all over the world. The emphasis is on fun and having a laugh at NHC, not to compete and be serious. We also play at the carnival in Brazil, or the annual Batala get- together, where all the bands join up to play. Playing the music of Batala London in a massed band of over 200 drummers simply cannot be beaten and the atmosphere the band creates is electric! Searching ‘Batala’ will bring up many of the bands on the internet so get in touch with any of the Batala bands in your area to book them. They are all on social media and have their own websites. If you wish to see photos or videos of the band our website is: www.batalalondon.com and/or contact the other bands for their own videos.
