Notting Hill Carnival has been taking place on the streets of West London since its inception in the mid ‘60s. Beginning as a small community event the Carnival now spans Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park.
Every year Notting Hill Carnival takes place on the August Bank holiday weekend, welcoming approximately two million visitors each year, forming one of the world's largest street festivals and one of the most significant events in UK culture..
In 2018 the main days fall on Sunday 26 – Monday 27 August.
There are many ‘fetes’ and pre-events in the run-up, including the spectacular national steelband competition: Panorama.
