We will be holding a 72 second silence on Sunday and Monday at 3pm; one second for each life lost in last year’s fire.

Dear Carnivalists

You will recall that last year at Carnival we held a minute’s silence on each day to mark respect and remembrance for the victims and survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire.

This year, in collaboration with the survivors, we will be holding a 72 second silence on each Carnival day at 3pm; one second for each life lost in last year’s fire.

We, the local community and all those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire would really appreciate your help in creating these brief moments of reflection and respect in the midst of our days of revelry.

BEAT FM SUPPORT

This time, radio station BeatFM 103.6 has agreed to support us in this endeavour. Making it simpler for everyone, and to enable us to synchronise across all of Carnival, we are hoping that all sound systems, stages and mas bands will tune in to BeatFM at 2.58pm. Their broadcast will consist of a 2 minute build-up, a 72 second silence and a 30 second wrap-up.
