Notting Hill Carnival has been called many things: street party, foodie heaven, neighbourhood nuisance. One thing’s for certain – it is a celebration of art, culture and place unlike any other in the world.
As this globally recognised Carnival celebrates its 50th year, we talk to three authorities in the sector:
Ansel Wong, former Chair of the Notting Hill Carnival Board
Ruth Tompsett, who taught Carnival studies at Middlesex University and is now working on the Carnival Archive
And Tara Hobson, Director of Carnival Village Trust in London.
Chaired by Richard Ings, Relationship Manager Combined Arts, Arts Council England.
