As organisers of Notting Hill Carnival 2018 we wish to involve and benefit the local community as much as possible and to provide all attendees with an improved Carnival experience.
We are committed to the training and employment of a large number of local residents as professional stewards. These stewards will provide Carnival attendees with the best local knowledge when in need of practical information in the form of directions or the recommendation of local amenities and facilities.
The stewards will be trained to an NVQ or SIA standard – recognised qualifications that will create future employment opportunities. The newly-trained stewards will work alongside professional staff from crowd management company McKenzie Arnold.
They will be strategically positioned throughout the Carnival area to engage with the public at entrance points and road closures, which will free up the police to use more resources to focus on the very important job of dealing with crime.
