Kinetika Bloco
Kinetika Bloco
Kinetika Bloco is a performance group with an exuberant mix of young brass and woodwind players, drummers, steel pan and dynamic dancers all in costume creating a “unique new British Carnival sound with a decidedly London edge" (BBC Radio 2). Formed in 2000, established as a charity in June 2010, and engaged as an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) in 2018: we have a 21-year track record delivering high quality summer schools, workshops, creative projects, and performances which are celebratory, large-scale, exciting, unique and diverse. We have engaged over 12,000 young people to date who are reflective of the inner-city South London communities we work in. 80% come from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, mainly African and Caribbean and 20% have Special Educational Needs, Disabilities, or Neurodiversity. We draw our influences from the African Diaspora through the Caribbean, Brazil, and New Orleans and create a unique mash-up with the contemporary sounds of London.
