DUKA’s Mas Domnik UK Carnival Band

Mas Dominik Carnival Band is the Carnival Culture project of The Dominica UK Association, a registered since 1978. DUKA Mas Dominik UK and has been participating in the Notting Hill Carnival initially through its members individually joining up with other Bands such as Sisserou, and Masquerade 2K, Yaa Asentewaa and ELIMU. Mas Dominik officially launched in 2005 from its Mas Camp at the African Caribbean Centre, Barking Road, Plaistow E13 in an effort to mobilise Dominicans under one Carnival Band , and thereby fill the gap in the Nature Island’s cultural representation at Europe’s largest street Carnival. Highlights include high placings in the Carnival Parade, e.g. 4th places in 2009, 2010, 2011, 3rd in 2012. 2nd in 2013 and 2016; 1st in 2017 and 2019. Over the years The Band has promoted Kreyol culture by providing a stage for Nature Island artistes to perform at the Carnival; these include Serenade, Swingin’ Stars, Hunter,Asa Bantan. "UNMASKED" is a bouyon of traditional and modern culture.
