GT Flex Roadshow
Located at Middle Row junction Conlan Street Creativity and diversity for all musical tastes GT Flex Roadshow (Block Party) was formed in the late 80s by a collection of young DJ’s coming together for the love of music. GT Flex is not just a sound. It is a movement, controlled by DJs and MCs, who take people on a musical journey of all tastes with their diverse selection of beats and rhymes. Block Party was originally started by the Music Incorporated Sound System, which later evolved into GT Flex Roadshow more than 39 years ago. With a history of reinvention from year to year, Block Party is considered one of the most thrilling sound system locations at Carnival. This is where you will find a diverse range of party and radio DJs, both male and female, along with the young and the old, representing carnival at its best. Managed by owner/operator Greg Thomas, GT Flex performed at its first carnival in 1986. Later in the mid-nineties, the movement was joined by the Mahem Crew, KC, and, most recently, by DJ Shortie Bliz, DJ Krisis and DJ Ska (the best in the West!). Greg tells us that: "Even though every other crew or DJ may have the same records, the GT Flex Roadshow collective stamp is always guaranteed to be unique, direct and different" The GT Flex crew oozes creativity and diversity in keeping the carnival spirit alive, which helps to set them apart from other sound systems. The fusion of the two generations of sound systems in their history explains the crew's diversity. It may have been the original Music Incorporated Sound System that laid the foundations, but rest assured that GT Flex and Block Party are now more established than ever and are creating new boundaries in this digital age. If you have never been to a Block Party set before, come and witness the atmosphere for yourself. It's a great place to sample anything from Rare Groove, 80’s Soul, Jungle, Garage, Funcky House, R’n’B, 90’s Hip Hop, Dubplates, Dancehall and the Slow Jamz that always lock down the street.
